Dominance of Tone
The subject of this photograph, under normal conditions, would be fairly uninteresting. The trees, hit by a fading burst of sunlight, against the billowing black sky, take on a completely different character. The dominant dark tones surrounding the small group of trees create an ominous, threatening tension that, without the atmospheric conditions, would not exist.
