VISUAL TEXTURE Although this small demonstration
painting appears to have a variety
of textures, they are all only
suggested by the application of
paint. The paper is smooth except
for the grain emphasised in the top
right hand corner.
Contrasting the coarse texture of
the bricks with the regular pattern
of the iron roof keep the surface
of this work interesting.
Smoother areas of relief provide a
resting place for the eye and stop
the painting becoming too cluttered
and confused.
